Berry Kefir Smoothie |A Healthy Favorite

Berry Kefir Smoothie | Cozycakes CottageI make this smoothie at least once a week for my family.  There are so many health benefits to the probiotic-rich kefir so I feel good about handing a glass to my husband as he rushes out the door in the morning or making it for Munchie’s afternoon snack.

Kefir does great things in your body like cleansing your intestines (and promoting regular bowel movements), providing your body with good bacteria, yeast and proteins, and boosting immunity.  It’s also rich in vitamin B12, calcium and magnesium and supports detoxification.  I’m good with all that.  Some believe it can help people with milk-related lactose intolerance.  I’m not a doctor or an expert, but that’s definitely something to look into if you have lactose issues such as I do.  My stomach handles kefir very well so I’m able to enjoy this smoothie when I like.

Here’s the recipe for this family favorite and you can watch the video below as well.  See ya soon!

A delicious and healthy smoothie to get your day started right!

Recipe type: Beverage, Breakfast
Serves: 2
Ingredients
  • Kefir Berry Smoothie:
  • 1 and ¾ cups milk kefir
  • 1 banana, frozen
  • 1 cup strawberries, frozen
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract ( I love vanilla so I use a heaping teaspoon)
  • 1 Tbsp. honey (I prefer raw honey)
Instructions
  1. Add all ingredients to your favorite blender (I love my Nutri Bullet because it's the perfect size and clean up is a breeze) and mix/blend until smooth. Top with sliced strawberries or any other berries if you wish and enjoy!
Notes
This makes enough for 2 good size smoothies. One for you and one to share. 🙂

  1. I make a similar one with kefir, banana, berries, hemp hearts, flax seeds, carrots and kale, if I have it. I also enjoy kefir with banana and peanut butter mixed in the blender. Yummy! Thanks for sharing your ideas with us!

    1. Yum! That sounds delicious. I add a lot of other things like flax, etc to other smoothies, too. Great way to pack in the good stuff, right? This might be my simplest one. I like doing a banana/pb smoothie, too. 🙂 Thank you so much for sharing and I’ll try kefir with banana and pb next!

I love your comments and read them all.
